We are in the midst of a historic and apparently close presidential campaign, which has all the elements to energize our political science department. Though even without the election we seem to be pretty energized. Our young faculty members are busy with ambitious writing agendas, with research that focus on religion and politics, Congress, political thought, international politics and the politics of development and human rights. Our enrollments also indicate that students are finding value in their classes. Senior faculty remain involved as well in scholarship and are devoted to their teaching.
The university has in the Fall of 2008 achieved the highest enrollment figures in its history. We have a widely respected new president and administration who are taking steps to make USM a more environmentally friendly campus. We hope to do our part up here in the department.
Come by and visit, read the New York Times, and think about joining us. Our majors include political science, paralegal studies and American studies. We have a master's program in political science and offer a Ph.D. in International Development.
