Guest Editor (with Diane Wall) of Special Issue on Women and Southern Politics of the Southeastern Political Review. September 2000.
The Woman's Chautauqua, portrayed Burnita Shelton Matthews in the Woman's Chautauqua. In 1996, the Chautauqua was funded by the Mississippi Humanities Council and was performed in Oxford (March 5), Gulfport (March 21), Picayune (March 22), Cleveland (March 25),Columbus (March 28) Hattiesburg (June 21) and Stennis Space Center (August 26). Also portrayed were Nellie Nugent Somerville (by Elizabeth Sarcone) and Ellen S. Woodward (by Martha Swain). Additional performances were held in 1998 in Cleveland, Booneville and Raleigh, Mississippi.

National Endowment for the Humanities Travel to Collections Grant, 1992, FE-27200-92, for travel to the Schlesinger Library of Radcliffe College, Cambridge, MA to use the Burnita Shelton Matthews Papers.
Marriner S. Eccles Graduate Fellowship in Political Economy, University of Utah, 1986-1987. The Eccles Fellowship is a University research grant awarded to approximately fifteen graduates students each year for public policy research and included a stipend of $8500 plus tuition and fees. My research was on the role of compensatory and distributive principles of justice in affirmative action policy.
