Hire a Department Graduate
Students in the International Development Ph.D. program have received broad, interdisciplinary training in social science theory and methods, and specific, focused training in an emphasis area relating to International Policy and Development. Depending upon the prior graduate work, students will be well-prepared to teach in International Relations, Comparative Politics, Political Economy, International Studies, or related areas. Below are the bios and information about current Doctoral Candidates, most of whom will be enterring the job market within the next year.

  • Greg Banach works for Bank of America, and currently lives in Florida. He joined the program in January 2004 and graduated May 2008.
  • Elixenia Biron is a Spanish instructor and director of the Multimedia Language Center at The University of Southern Mississippi. She joined the program in 2003 and has an M.A. in teaching languages. She defended her dissertation regarding the impact of University research parks under the direction of Dr. Malone and graduated in May 2007.
  • Deena Burris is an assistant professor at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC where she teaches international business, international management, international development, and money and capital markets. She wrote a dissertation on capitalization of microfinance in Ghana under Dr. Malone and graduated in May 2007.
  • Shannon Campbell serves as Director of the Career Resource Center at Jones County Junior College in Ellisville, MS. She graduated in May 2007.
  • Ernie DelGrosso presently serves in a national security position with the United States Department of Homeland Security. He is currently working on a dissertation on responses to recover tourism revenues to a destination victimized by a terrorist attack under the direction of Dr. Pauly.
  • Troy Guider is a professor of economics on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and lives in Biloxi, MS. He wrote a dissertation regarding the differences in economic performance between "old" and "new" EU member nations under Dr. Naghshpour and graduated in December 2007.
  • Gregg Lassen is Vice President for Business Affairs at the University of Texas at Tyler. He is currently writing a dissertation under the direction of Dr. Wolfe.
  • Paula Mathis directs the Honors College recruitment program for academically talented high school seniors and oversees the Honors College admission process and orientation sessions at The University of Southern Mississippi Hattiesburg campus. She is writing a dissertation under Dr. Panton.
  • Josefer Montes is an instructor at Antonelli College in Hattiesburg, Miss., where he teaches various business courses. He is currently working on his dissertation research with Dr. Butler.
  • William (Billy) Morehead is VP for Finance and an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. His research interests focus on the Internal Control and Governance of NGOs, CSOs and NPOs. He wrote a dissertation under the direction of Dr. Butler and graduated in December 2007.
  • Martha Norman is an adjunct instructor at Troy State University and Wallace Community College in Dothan, AL. She is currently writing a dissertation regarding consumer food choices under the direction of Dr. Pauly.
 
  • MAJ NGCO Robert Redding currently resides in the Republic of Slovenia, where he is on assignment for the US Army. He is writing a dissertation in the area of nation-building under Dr. Pauly.
  • Wendell Robbins is president of W. A. Robbins Contruction Company in Houston, TX. He is currently working on a dissertation under the direction of Dr. Butler.
  • Kelly Robinson is Workforce Development Coordinator for Jones County Junior College in Ellisville, MS. She is working on "Economic Development: Education, Politics, and the Low Wage Factor" with Dr. von Herrmann.
  • Tim Saur is currently the vice president of finance, operations and service for Durst Phototechnik US. He is worked with Dr. Butler on a dissertation regarding outsourcing and technology policies and graduated in May 2008.
  • Juanyce Taylor is a diversity officer at Auburn University in Alabama. She is interested in leadership in the diversity arena and is working on her dissertation with Dr. von Herrmann.
