Position: Product Developer
The product developer is responsible for leading development activities associated with new and existing products as well as advanced new method development. The product developer must be able to solve technical problems associated with Company products and laboratory test methodologies. The product developer must exhibit high energy, act as a goal-focused individual who is proactive in problem solving and demonstrate the leadership and communication skills needed to help a diversified global business achieve its goals. The product developer will work with COMPANY’s customers, product/process developers, laboratory technicians, as well as the manufacturing, quality and commercial teams. This position will typically require a master's degree in a field related to polymer/material science/engineering, chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering. The product developer will be expected to make reasonable progress along the technical career path.
The key deliverables related to the position include but are not limited to the following:
- Support world-class safety and housekeeping policies and practices

- Lead projects using statistical design of experiments to deliver Six Sigma performance. Extend rigor to take new products from the laboratory to the manufacturing floor, ensuring consistent manufacturing performance of the products.

Position: Senior/Principal Development Engineer
We are currently seeking a Senior/Principal Development Engineer for the Purification Product Development group within Millipore’s Bioprocess Division. This position will be based at our Bedford, MA campus. As part of the Bioprocess Downstream Processing (DSP) Research and Development organization, a successful candidate will develop novel and advanced devices for the separation of protein therapeutics and vaccines in a team environment.
Individuals in this position will be responsible for the research, design and optimization of devices and tools for membrane- and chromatography-based separations. Responsibilities include conceptualization, design and development of novel devices and/or devices to support new membranes or chromatography media. Previous experience in strong bonding, molding and design of plastic parts is required. The individual may be called upon to contribute as an individual contributor as well as leading and managing a team or multiple teams.
Candidate Requirements:
- Must have strong fundamental understanding of plastics engineering, bonding, molding and device design.
- Must have a fundamental knowledge of materials, and broad experience with different materials of construction
- Must have experience in extrusion, potting, bonding, injection molding, and over molding. Must be able to work collaboratively while think independently and creatively.
- Must have a strong track record in leading the design, development, and production of complex devices.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites, both domestic and international as needed.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. with 5+ yrs or MS with 10+ yrs of relevant industrial experience in Plastics Engineering and/or Polymer/Materials Engineering or related discipline.
- Must be self motivated, enthusiastic and have the ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers.
- Experience in Biopharmaceutical separations is highly desirable.

Position: Research Chemist, Cytec Engineered Materials
Cytec Engineered Materials is looking for immediate filling of a Research Chemist with synthesis and polymer synthesis experience for our Anaheim, CA research facility. Cytec Engineered Materials is a division of Cytec Industries, a medium sized chemical company. This scientist will be responsible for the following:
- Develop new polymeric composite systems for application in all areas of CEM business, with emphasis on aerospace
- Conduct, document and present research on composite materials (including, but not limited to: resin or polymer synthesis, resin formulation, chemical/thermal/physical analysis, composite processing, and resin / composite mechanical / environmental performance testing)
- Understanding the key business goals of the composites business unit and targeting research areas to meet those goals.
- Establish technical relationships with key customers and universities by presenting and discussing research results
- Support production operations as required with technical issues on existing and new production products
Requirements:
- A minimum of a BS in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Chemistry is required in order to be able to apply the scientific principles required by the position.
- A MS or PhD in Organic or Polymer Chemistry is preferred and would provide an increased ability to perform the work required by this position.
- Experience with polymer and organic synthesis is required.
- Experience with polymers and polymeric composites is desirable.
- This is a key product development position and requires knowledge of our types of materials in order to be effective. This experience should also extend to experience with the polymers that CEM (or competitors in the industry) use in their resin formulations.
- Familiarity with laboratory practices associated with polymer synthesis is required.
- Familiarity with laboratory practices associated with resin mixing, prepregging, composite layup and materials science is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of polymer physical, thermal, and mechanical analysis techniques is required.
- Familiarity and experience in manufacturing techniques for composites parts in the aerospace industry is desirable.
- Experience in supporting composite part design and fabrication is not required but is highly desirable.

and work in a global cross-functional team environment with strong customer
focus - Demonstrated track record of high academic achievement and creative independent research
- Working knowledge of standard PC applications
- Proficient in basic statistics and Design of Experiment (DOE)
- Excellent oral and written communications skills in English
