PhD Scientist, High Point, NC Wood group

The preferred candidate would have a PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.  Candidate is expected to plan and lead multiple technical research projects through the commercialization process based on project objectives, budget, and timelines.  Scientist position will require a person capable of conducting research according to LSS design principles through direct interaction with emerging customers.  The candidate will have to be excellent at presenting and guiding projects to ensure commercialization opportunities are realized.  Ultimately, the candidate will have to apply a thorough understanding of the coatings industry and competitive technologies to develop successful products, application methods, or optimize manufacturing processes depending on customer need.  The major responsibility of the scientist position is introducing new technologies to the wood group at Valspar and serving as the primary contact for complex internal or external questions.

Post Doc, Minneapolis Corporate Polymer lab    

The preferred candidate would have a Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent area. The preferred candidate is highly motivated with a solid background in polymer chemistry and/or polymer physics, strong knowledge of polymer structure-property relationships, latex/coating film formation mechanisms, pigment-binder interactions, and excellent communication skills. Experience in emulsion polymerization is highly desirable and experience in pigment dispersions and interfacial surfaces/energetics is a plus.

This person will be responsible for R&D investigations for new product development, specifically working with a cross-functional project team charged with developing novel methods for improving the hiding efficiency of paints.

Associate Chemist, Louisville, KY

The preferred candidate would have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.  The preferred candidate needs to be fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese languages.  This person will work with the team to complete in a timely manner, product development, cost savings and pigment alternate projects related to Industrial and Packaging Coatings colorants.  Successfully scale up and commercialize new formulations in our plant.

Looking for an engineering technology manager interested in launching a new family of polymers using unique monomers already developed by the company.

Responsibility

Manage polymer technology development for new nylons based on unique diamine and diacids.
Direct and develop nylon process technology including equipment design and selection.
Develop testing laboratory and application formulation to meet customer needs
Build polymer technology team to launch new nylons
Direct nylon formulation activities for the monofilament, injection molding, film and fiber area.
Direct the development of a 10,000 MT per year demonstration facility

Background

Advanced degree in polymer technology, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials technology or related fields.
10+ years of experience in nylon polymer chemistry.
Ability to work with all levels of production, development and sales.

Location:  Shanghai China research and Shandong China demonstration facility.. Expect eventual commercial facility outside China with likely location in USA.
