The Bayer Lecture Series: The University of Southern Mississippi School of Polymers and High Performance Materials will host the Bayer Lecuter Series on October 10th, 2007, in the Auditorium of the Shelby Freeland Thames Polymer Science Research Center. Polymer Researcher Publishes Most Cited Article in 2006 : Polymer Science & Engineering Professor Charles McCormick and his research group have published the most-cited article from the ACS journal Macromolecules in 2006 and two of the top five articles. Read more about it here.

Polymer Research Making Headlines : Polymer Science & Engineering Professor Robson Storey's research has been featured recently in several National and International news stories detailing research that aims to make a plastic that dissolves in seawater, with nutrient byproducts that marine organisms can use. Micah Black win Elias Singer Award : Polymer Science & Engineering graduate stduent Micah Black has been awarded the Elias Singer Outstanding USM Student Paper Award by the Waterborne Symposium. The award is sponsored by the Troy Chemical Corporation. The symposium was held in New Orleans February 13-16. Read more about Waterborne here.

Polymer Science Alum Wins Prestigious International Award : Dr. René-Pierre Müller, CEO of Quadrant AG in Switzerland informed Dr. Marek Urban, Director of the School of Polymers and High Performance Materials, that alum Dr. Kirt Page has been awarded the second prize in the 2007 Quadrant AG International Research Competition. Among applicants from all over the world, six finalists were chosen to go to Switzerland to present their PhD dissertation research. Kirt's Ph.D. advisor is Dr. Robert Moore, professor of polymer science and engineering at Southern Miss. On behalf of the faculty and students, and the entire Southern Miss community we congratulate the winner and his advisor for this prestigious award. Read more about the award here.

Polymer Graduate Finalist for Quadrant Award : Polymer Science & Engineering Ph.D. graduate Kirt Page has been named a finalist for the second annual Quadrant award. The award is an international award for scientific accomplishment in the field of engineering and high-performance plastics and composites. Page has already won a trip to Zurich, Switzerland, in order to participate in the awards ceremony where the winner of EUR 15,000 will be announced. Read more about the award here.

Polymer Student Starting Biotech Company : Polymer Science & Engineering graduate student Lisa Kemp of Picayune is featured in a recent Hattiesburg American article detailing Southern Mississippi's increasing biotech stature.
