The RET site for Polymer Engineering Research and Workforce Development (RET) at The University of Southern Mississippi School of Polymers and High Performance Materials (SPHPM) was launched in 2006 under National Science Foundation award EEC-0602032. Each summer, ten community college and high school teachers worked in polymer laboratories performing research in polymer films, coatings, composites and nanocomposites under the direction of Polymer Science and Engineering faculty. Additionally, the teachers developed curriculum enhancing activities and laboratory experiments for their own classrooms. After trying the activities with their students, the teachers determined which were the most effective. These activities are assembled on this website for the use of other teachers. Teachers presented results of their research at the American Chemical Society, Mississippi Academy of Sciences and Mississippi Science Teacher Association meetings. Abstracts are located in the references section of the website.
