HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The College of Business at The University of Southern Mississippi will host its second Healthcare Marketing Industry Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, in the Joseph Greene Hall lobby on campus.
Representatives from companies such as Hawthorn Pharmaceuticals Inc., Pamlab LLC, Pfizer Inc., Alcon Laboratories Inc. and Bristol Myers-Squibb Company will host booths to meet and recruit students and local residents interested in pharmaceutical and healthcare sales careers. The event is open to the public. “We are fortunate to have one of the few health care marketing programs in the nation that is part of a college of business,” said Dr. Mike Wittmann, referring to the newly approved health care marketing degree in business administration at the university. Wittmann, who is assistant professor of marketing and serves as the Max Draughn Pharmaceutical Sales professor, stated that students pursuing the degree receive training in business, sales, marketing, science and health care, which gives them a competitive advantage in the marketplace. “Health care-related companies have recognized that our program is unique and our students are often better prepared,” Wittmann continued. “Thus, the Healthcare Marketing Industry Day is really an opportunity for our students to showcase what they’ve learned with the goal of gaining full-time employment in the health care industry.” Wittmann added, “We also recognize that there are alumni and people in the community interested in making career changes or learning more about our program, which is why we make this event open to the public.” For questions, contact Wittmann at
