HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS AWARENESS WEEK
NOVEMBER
16 - 22, 2003
Hunger Banquet,
Monday, 7 p.m. in the RHA Center
Learn more about the causes of hunger and just how many people face
this unnecessary situation. A meal will be provided. The Residence
Hall Association's office is located on the ground floor of Hickman
Hall, facing the southern end zone of The Rock. Thanks to Residence
Life for sponsoring this event.
Community
Kitchen, Monday or Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Christian Services offers a hot meal each weekday. If you are
interested in joining others from Southern Miss who will be serving
on Monday and Wednesday, sign up by calling 266-5074 or e-mailing
lindsey.brown@usm.edu.
Habitat
for Humanity, Monday - Wednesday, 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
The Office of Community Service Learning will be partnering
with the Hattiesburg Area affiliate of Habitat for Humanity for
several workdays during this week. Make sure to wear closed-toe
shoes and wear old clothing. To sign up, call 266-5074 or e-mail

Canned Food
Drive, Monday - Friday
A canned food drive will be held during this week to benefit
the food pantry at the Edwards Street Fellowship Center. Boxes will
be available in the Union and Liberal Arts Building, as well as
participating grocery stores. Also, several local schools will be
taking part in the drive. If you would like to donate, please do.
To help with collection or programs at the schools, please contact

Salvation
Army Food Distribution, Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Volunteers will help sort food for distribution at the food
pantry. Help is needed all day. Individuals and groups are encouraged
to attend. To sign up for a time to volunteer, please contact Hunter
Phillips by phone at 266-6342 or by email at hunter.phillips@usm.edu.
