FLOSENZIER JOINS SOUTHERN MISS
AS DIRECTOR OF PROCESS TECHNOLOGY

"I'm very happy to be part of this team," Flosenzier said. "It is really exciting to have the opportunity of expanding the capabilities of the university."

Flosenzier said his job will be to value the technology licensed to the university's partners or licensees. "Before something can be marketed, we have to know the value and the cost," he said. "One of the keys to commercializing a new product is to figure out the most cost-effective way to make it.

"That's where I come in. My experience in the chemical industry gives me the background to determine what it costs to produce materials."

Flosenzier will work with Les Goff, director of innovation and business ventures, under Dr. Angeline Dvorak, vice president of business and economic development at Southern Miss.

"I think Vance brings much needed engineering knowledge to our team and, with his background, he will be key to our group reaching our goals," Goff said.

Flosenzier, an Indiana native, earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering in 1985 from Purdue and his master's in chemical engineering in 1987 from Northwestern University. He has 16 years of experience in the chemical engineering field, including manufacturing, process development and research.

He and his wife, Diana, a grant proposal specialist, live in Moselle and have three children.
