TO PRESENT STUDIO 115 CONCERT |

-- The University of Southern Mississippi
Repertory Dance Company will offer three opportunities to see made-from-scratch
works by six student choreographers Dec. 9-11 at Studio 115 in the
Theatre and Dance Building.
Solely using repertory dancers and a Southern Miss production team, the concert includes original choreography by seniors Jessica Novosel of Covington, La., Jessica Bollaert of Brandon, and Robert Rigsby of Ocean Springs and juniors Summer Breal of Biloxi, Ashley Sutton of Pearl, and Carrie Culpepper of Laurel. Novosel's "All Signs Lead to One" opens the production as a compilation of three dynamic solos tied together with the reassurance that "life goes on." Sutton brings down the lights on her piece, "Together in Loneliness," that looks at the relationship of four friends and how each friend has impacted the others' lives in different ways, even after death. Exploring the idea of being one of a group, Bollaert's dance, "Tea," uses an organic, calming method of movement juxtaposed against sometimes frantic music and movement. Culpepper's "Suspended in Yesterday" centers on timeless experiences that are encountered during life. "This piece depicts movement that is performed on a swing and will show how we as people can support, disturb and tangle a person's lifestyle or our own," Culpepper explained. Breal brings the mood back up in her piece, "Summer Rain," a refreshing, up-beat piece with a delightful combination of popular music and calming rain sounds. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Admission is $5 on Friday and Saturday, and tickets will be sold at the door only. Admission for Thursday's performance is "pay what you can."
