LONG BEACH
-- The
University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Civic Chorale will
hold its second annual Christmas concert titled REJOICE! on Dec.
9 in Gulfport.
Free and open
to the public, the concert will start at 7 p.m. at St. Peter's by-the-Sea
Episcopal Church, 1912 E. Beach Blvd., in Gulfport.
The USM Gulf
Coast Civic Chorale is directed by Joanne Edwards and is accompanied
by Dr. John Adams on the piano and the organ.
The performance
will feature the first movement of John Rutter's "Gloria"
and an arrangement of "Jingle Bells" entitled "Nutcracker
Jingles."
The featured
soloist for the series will be Southern Miss faculty member John
DeChiaro, a widely acclaimed classical guitarist who made his career
debut at Carnegie Hall in 1976. DeChiaro has recorded two compact
discs and has played for Pope John Paul II and former President
Bill Clinton.
