HATTIESBURG - Seven undergraduate students in the College of Business at The University of Southern Mississippi are recipients of scholarships through the Business Advisory Council Faculty Scholars Program this fall.

The program pairs promising junior and senior business students with an expert research professor who serves as a mentor. Students receive a $1,000 scholarship and are given the opportunity to conduct research in their chosen field of study.

The fall 2004 recipients are as follows:

Samuel Christopher Boleware, a production and operations management major of Seminary, Miss., is the son of Sammie Boleware Jr. and Angela Boleware. He is working with Joseph Peyrefitte, assistant professor of management.

Lindsay Campbell, a senior international business major of Bush, La., is working with Frank Mixon, professor of economics.

Robert Dossett, a senior accounting major of Petal, Miss., is the son of Bobby and Linda Dossett. He is working with Edward Nissan, professor of economics.

Muhammad Imran, of Sumrall, Miss., a management and information systems major, is married to Sandra Imran and is the son of Muhammad Younis and Shahzadi Parveen. He is working with Charles Sawyer, professor of economics.

Jason Mercier, is a senior management and information systems major of McComb, Miss., is the son of Don and Gayle Mercier. He is working with Gwen Pate, associate professor of accounting and director of Undergraduate Programs.

Jessica Olive, a business administration major of Columbia, Miss., is the daughter of Jerry and Dorothy Olive and the granddaughter of Lindsey and Jessie Walker. She is working with Jennifer Sequeira, assistant professor of management.

Kimberly Swan, a senior marketing major of Purvis, Miss., is the daughter of Bruce and Kathy Swan. She will be working with Bill Smith, assistant professor of marketing and director of Graduate Programs.

The BAC scholarships are made possible through the college's Business Advisory Council, a group of distinguished business leaders from Mississippi and other states who advise and support the College of Business. The scholarships are for one semester and are subject to renewal based upon successful completion of assignments and availability of funds.
