LONG BEACH - Continuing
and new students attending The University of Southern Mississippi
Gulf Coast now have a more convenient registration process. The
new procedure allows students to register for spring classes from
now until Jan. 10 by making an appointment with their student services
coordinator by e-mail correspondence or by telephone.
"This new concept provides a customer-friendly
environment," said Richard Farley, director of customer service.
"Students can register for the upcoming semester any time after
the class schedule is available online."
Previously, students could register only when SOAR
(Southern's Online Accessible Records) was available. The window
was only open for two to three weeks, but with continuous registration,
that limitation no longer exists.
Current students are encouraged to make an appointment
with their student services coordinator. Advisement and registration
can both be accomplished in one sitting.
Once admitted, new students will be contacted by a
student services coordinator to make an appointment for registration.
Twelve student services coordinators are available for students
registering for classes on the Gulf Coast.
Application for admission to the university can be
made online by visiting www.usm.edu/gulfcoast. Official transcripts
will be required, but student copies can be used for the advisement
and registration process.
For more information on spring semester advisement
and registration, visit the Gulf Coast Web site, call (228) 865-4500
or come in person to the Administration Building, Room 100 on the
Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.
