--The University of Southern Mississippi
will co-host an international conference Nov. 4-5 at the Grand Casino
in Gulfport, featuring a variety of expert presenters from various
fields, including those in social work and community health.
The conference, titled "Social Work Practice
and HIV/AIDS: Local and Global Perspectives," will be presented
by Southern Miss along with Mississippi Valley State University
Department of Social Work; the National Association of Social Workers;
the Mississippi State Department of Health; and the Delta Region
AIDS Education and Training Center at the University of Mississippi
Medical Center.
"This conference will be of great interest to
social work students and practitioners who work with HIV/AIDS populations,"
said Dr. Jerome Kolbo, a professor in the Southern Miss School of
Social Work. Kolbo said those who work in nursing and the community
health field would also find the conference and its presentations
and programs beneficial.
