Long beach– Classes
for the fall semester 2005 at The University of Southern Mississippi
at Gulf Park, Keesler Air Force Base and at the university’s
Jackson County teaching site will resume Oct. 10. Because of necessary
rescheduling due to Hurricane Katrina, the fall 2005 semester will
be a 10-week period that concludes Dec. 16.
The storm left many students in the region
with questions about fall 2005 classes and late registration. To
meet their needs, Southern Miss academic advisors will meet with
Gulf Coast and displaced students for one-on-one academic advisement.
The following information, including dates
and locations for when and where to meet with academic advisors,
is as follows:
Students planning to graduate December 2005
should meet their advisers on Friday, Sept. 23, at the Gulf Park
Student Service Center at the corner of 45th Avenue and 15th Street
in Gulfport, north of Gulfport Memorial Hospital, from 10 a.m. to
6 p.m.
On Tuesday, Sept. 27, advisors will assist
current, new and displaced students at the Gulf Park Student Service
Center from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Southern Miss students can also go to the Jackson
County teaching site on the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College
campus in Gautier to meet with academic advisors on Wednesday, Sept.
28, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., when current, new and returning students
can receive assistance with their academic needs.
If possible, and in an effort to speed the
assistance process, students are asked to bring their existing scheduling
paperwork from before the storm. Advisors will answer questions
and work to modify schedules as necessary as the university works
to resume normal operations.
