Assistant U.S. Secretary of Education Henry Johnson speaks with WDAM-TV reporter Leif Munkle before delivering the keynote address at the University of Southern Mississippi's Eagle Institute for School Leaders' conference on "Katrina and the Schools: Insights into Weathering the Storm" at the Hattiesburg Lake Terrace Convention Center Monday. Johnson addressed the efforts put forth by the U.S. Department of Education to ensure that displaced students are receiving a high quality education despite the devastation suffered, and that affected states are given the flexibility they need to continue educating their students while meeting the goals of the federal No Child Left Behind act.
