Gulfport—The
University of Southern Mississippi received 14 professional awards
last week at the 2006 Public Relations Association of Mississippi
(PRAM) Conference in Oxford, Miss.
Southern Miss
Gulf Coast Marketing and Public Relations staff brought home six
awards – four Awards of Excellence and two Certificates of Achievement
– primarily for work in communicating with faculty, staff and students
in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Shelia White,
director of marketing and public relations for Southern Miss Gulf
Coast, was recognized for her crisis communication efforts following
Hurricane Katrina, public service campaign with the Sun Herald
for the “Issues + Answers” lecture series, video production on a
promotional videotape, a feature story on the survival of the Friendship
Oak tree after Katrina, and production of specialty items for the
university.
Judy Isbell,
director of Web-based marketing for Southern Miss Gulf Coast, was
recognized for crisis communication, video production, specialty
advertising design and production, and innovation in Web development
during the days leading up to and following Hurricane Katrina.
Dayonne McGuire,
director of enrollment and marketing at Southern Miss Gulf Coast,
was recognized for her role in producing a promotional video for
the coast campus.
Marketing and
public relations professionals from the university’s Hattiesburg
campus received eight total awards at the conclusion of the competition
last week, including three Awards of Excellence and five Certificates
of Achievement.
PRAM’s Award
of Excellence is given for exceptional work in the field of public
relations. The Certificate of Achievement recognizes notable work
in the field of public relations.
