HATTIESBURG – A lecture on book art collections will be
presented Feb. 9 at the University of Southern Mississippi
International Building Auditorium, Room 101, at 6 p.m.,
featuring Jae Rossman, a special collections librarian with Yale
University’s Arts of the Book Collection. Admission is free.
Rossman’s presentation, titled “Campus Collaborations: The Book
Arts at Yale University,” will include a discussion of the
culture of book art on campus, highlighting the various places
where examples of the book arts are collected and exhibited.
As a curator of the Collection, Rossman assists researchers,
curates exhibitions of materials in the collection, and promotes
the use of the collection in addition to other activities.
Rossman is on the board of directors at the Center for Book Arts
in New York City. In 2005, she curated a show there titled “30
Years of Innovation: A Survey of Exhibition History at the
Center for Book Arts, 1974-2004.” Once a year, she publishes a
book art essay through her private press, the Jenny-Press.
The book art lectures will focus on topics relating to printing
history, bookbinding, typography, book illustrations, artist
books, papermaking and related fields. The lecture is sponsored
by University Library Special Collections. For more information,
