The University of Southern Mississippi Business Assistance
Center (BAC), along with the Hattiesburg Historic Downtown
Association, Donnell and Company and Hancock Bank, is
presenting a Gulf Opportunities Zone (GO Zone) community
education program on Thursday, March 2. The seminar will
be held from 7:30 - 9 a.m. at the Hattiesburg Cultural
Center, located at 723 Main St.
Tom
Peyton, a certified public accountant with Donnell and
Company, will provide an overview of the incentives available.
The Gulf Opportunity Zone Act of 2005 is a federal legislation
that was passed by Congress and signed into law by President
Bush in December. This legislation provides federal tax
incentives to areas affected by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita,
and Wilma that were designated as warranting assistance.

fundamental goal of Southern Miss’ Business Assistance
Center is to coordinate all current business assistance
efforts to avoid duplication and to provide seamless support
