HATTIESBURG
– The University of Southern Mississippi will
celebrate national “Read Across America Day” and the birthday
of Dr. Seuss on Thursday, March 2.
Partnering with the Hattiesburg Public School District
at the PACE Head Start Center and the Family Education
Center, the Office of Community Service Learning will
spend the afternoon reading Dr. Seuss books to children,
spearheading games, participating in arts and crafts activities
and indulging in refreshments.
To help make this day a memorable one, Southern Miss
is asking for donations of Dr. Seuss books, empty egg
cartons and pipe cleaners. The items may be dropped off
at the collection box in the Office of Community Service
Learning, located in the University Union, Room 221.
If you would like to participate in "Read Across
America Day," please contact Kathy Fleming at 601.266.5074
or stop by the Office of Community Service Learning to
enroll on the volunteer sign-up sheet.
