Southern Miss Faculty Ensemble, Promenade to Perform
HATTIESBURG --
University of Southern Mississippi faculty Baroque ensemble,
Promenade, will present a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 26 at
Parkway Heights United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg.
Formed in 1997
by faculty artists in the School of Music at Southern Miss, the
ensemble of Patricia Malone (oboe), Alexander Russakovsky
(cello), Danilo Mezzadri (flute), and Dana Ragsdale
(harpsichord), shares a depth of professional experience as
soloists and ensemble players, as well as a passion for Baroque
music.
The evening’s
program includes works by Georg Friedrich Handel, Francois
Couperin, Carl Phillip Emanuel Bach, Pietro Locatelli and Johann
David Heinichen.
Malone is
professor of oboe and serves as principal oboist with the Mobile
(Ala.) and Meridian Symphonies as well as the Mobile Opera
Orchestra. Russakovsky is assistant professor of cello and
founding member of the Jerusalem Academy String Quartet.
Mezzadri, a
Brazilian flutist and assistant professor, is a founding member
of the Quarteto Brasilis and has given international tours and
recorded a CD featuring South American music for flute and
strings. Ragsdale, professor of harpsichord and piano, also
directs Southern Arts Pro Musica, a group dedicated to the
performance and study of early music.
