Miss University of Southern Mississippi 2005, Joanna Gaston, will
crown her successor Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Mannoni Performing Arts
Center located on Southern Miss’ Hattiesburg campus.
Along with the chance to compete for the 2006 title of Miss
Mississippi in Vicksburg in July, the four contestants will be
competing for a $1,500 scholarship and other awards.
Tickets for the 59th annual pageant are $7 and can be
purchased at the Southern Miss Ticket
Office in the Ferlise Center.
Vrita Delaine, assistant vice president
of Southern Miss Student Affairs, and WDAM-TV’s
Mitchell Williams will
serve as mistress and master of ceremonies for the pageant.
This year’s contestants include
* Jennifer Abernathy of Richland, a junior majoring in vocal music;
* Amanda Berry of Raymond, a senior majoring in coaching;
* Laura Giles of Petal, a sophomore majoring in biology; and
* Blair Norman of Clinton, a sophomore majoring in music education.
