Hattiesburg—The University of Southern Mississippi
will offer an Industrial Audiometry and Hearing Conservation Workshop
Aug. 7-9.
The two-and-a-half day workshop also includes a one-day recertification
course on Aug. 8. The programs are approved by the Council for Accreditation
in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC).
The deadline for registering for the workshop is July 24, and enrollment
is limited.
These courses are specifically designed for industrial nurses,
safety engineers and other personnel responsible for initiating
programs to comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations
applicable to noise and hearing loss. Participants learn to test
hearing and to establish hearing conservation programs in the workplace.
Workshop director is Dr. Bob Rhodes, the only CAOHC-approved course
director in Mississippi. He is a former Southern Miss faculty member.
The course is coordinated by the Southern Miss Office of Noncredit
