Hattiesburg—The
University of Southern Mississippi Foundation recently received
a $9,000 donation from BellSouth that fully establishes an endowment.
“BellSouth has
contributed a total of $23,000 over the past several years to the
BellSouth Education Support Fund at The Foundation, and this endowment
is now fully funded,” said Tim Ryan, executive director of the Southern
Miss Foundation.
The endowment
will be used to provide financial assistance and scholarships to
deserving students that meet the criteria established by BellSouth.
“Without this
financial assistance, some talented young students might not have
the opportunity to fully recognize their education goals,” said
Rick Stewart, BellSouth regional manager. “BellSouth is proud to
partner with the University of Southern Mississippi to help educate
the next generation of students.
“Over the years,
many BellSouth employees and customers have used the higher education
system in Mississippi to further their education and enhance their
job skills. Completing this endowment will help to ensure we continue
to have opportunities to recruit and employ people with the workforce
training skills and education our industry demands.”
The University
of Southern Mississippi Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that
serves as a fiduciary of private funds donated to Southern Miss.
Gifts are tax deductible within the limits of IRS regulations.
