VOLUNTEERS—Myron Freiburger of Grand Blanc, Mich., builds a frame to help secure
the windows of the old Hattiesburg, Miss., High School, Wednesday.
He is one of over 30 volunteer workers from Oakland County Michigan
who are in Hattiesburg this week to help repair hurricane Katrina
damage to the structure. The volunteers will clean out the building,
repair the roof, secure windows and get the facility ready for a
$13.8 million restoration project to become home for the University
of Southern Mississippi’s Department of Art and Design, Museum of
Art, and Art Incubator. The project is sponsored by the Historic
Hattiesburg Downtown Association. (Southern Miss Public Relations
