HATTIESBURG—The
University of Southern Mississippi is now offering mini-session
classes May 15-26 and August 7-18.
Mini sessions
are classes offered in a one- or two-week period. Those lasting
for one week meet daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Two-week mini sessions
meet for four hours per day. The times for these classes are set
by the individual instructors.
Dr. Lin Harper,
director of the Office of Distance Education Support, who has assisted
in the planning process for the upcoming mini sessions, said that
the classes are a great opportunity for anyone, not just current
Southern Miss students.
“Current students
welcome the opportunity to distribute their course loads out over
different terms, and the intensive format works well for professional
students who need and want to upgrade their credentials and skills,”
Harper says. “As our inventory of mini-session courses grows, we
believe that the average person who is not in school full time or
working toward a degree will see the benefit of ‘dropping in’ to
take a course during this nontraditional timeframe.”
