Scott Johnson of Jackson, Miss., a double music major in music
education and jazz studies at the University of Southern Mississippi, has been awarded the
prestigious Presser Award, for outstanding music student for 2006. Johnson, who graduated from
Murrah High School and attended the Academic Performing Arts Complex, performed during the
annual Awards Day ceremony for the College of Arts and Letters Thursday on the Hattiesburg,
Miss., campus. The Presser Foundation sponsors the$4,000 award that is to be used during the
