He became provost in 2002, while continuing to serve as director of the Southern Miss Gulf Coast Research Laboratory.

Grimes will be joined by Associate Provost Dr. Cynthia Moore in presenting diplomas to graduates. Two separate commencement ceremonies will be held at Reed Green Coliseum on the Southern Miss Hattiesburg campus, the first at 2:30 p.m. followed by a 6:30 p.m. ceremony.

A Southern Miss Gulf Coast commencement exercise will be held May 13 at 10 a.m. at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, where Dr. Grimes will join Southern Miss Gulf Coast Associate Provost Dr. Pat Joachim in presenting diplomas to graduates.

Approximately 1,600 students are scheduled to graduate from the university this spring.

Southern Miss graduate and Pass Christian native Sally Ann Roberts Craft, a popular news reporter and morning anchor for WWL-TV in New Orleans, will be the commencement speaker for all three ceremonies.
