College in general changes people, and Southern Miss changes people for the better. I always encourage new students to “ride all the rides,” or take advantage of all the opportunities Southern Miss has to offer.

There are many things happening at the university, and I hope to update you on daily campus life as well as show how our students and faculty are impacting the world through relevant research and outreach. I hope you find the President’s Blog interesting and useful and that it makes you proud to be a part of the Southern Miss community. As former Alumni Association director Powell Ogletree once said, “It’s a great day to be a Golden Eagle.”
