Stay on the cutting edge of your profession by attending the Mississippi Cosmetology Association Continuing Education Seminar on August 7-9, 2010. Track the direction of new styles and cutting techniques enhanced by progressive texturing and coloring procedures. Classes are conducted by industry leaders and "behind the chair" technicians.

**NOTE for MEC educators: In order to receive free registration, an MEC educator must actively assist with the seminar all three days. Assistance options may include instruction, facilitation, questions and answers, hands-on assistance and/or panel participation.

For those participants registering on-site Saturday, August 7, 2010, or paying balances due, please be aware that no checks will be accepted. We will accept cash, money order, Visa or MasterCard only.

The “early registration” rate applies to registrations submitted with fee payment postmarked on or before July 23, 2010. Make checks payable to Southern Miss. Registrations are accepted by mail or in person. Registrations by fax or phone are accepted with payment by VISA or MasterCard only.

Cancellllation, Transfer and Refund Policies

Refund requests must be made in writing to the Southern Miss Office of Professional Development and Educational Outreach. Refund requests postmarked on or before July 23, 2010, will be refunded 100 percent, less a $50 processing fee. Refund requests postmarked after July 23, 2010, will not be processed, and no refund will be issued. Upon receipt of a request, the university requires a period of four to six weeks to process an approved refund.

Lodging Accommodations

Lodging reservations and payment must be made on an individual basis. A block of rooms has been designated at the Ramada Inn on the Hill and at the Courtyard Marriott for the Cosmetology Seminar. When making reservations, identify yourself with the seminar in order to receive the seminar rate.

Location and Check-In

The seminar will take place August 7-9, 2010, at the Hattiesburg Lake Terrace Convention Center (HLTCC) in Hattiesburg, Miss. The center is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 49 and Interstate 59. Preregistered participants should check in on August 7, 2010, from 10 a.m. until noon in the lobby of the center. On-site registration also will be available at this time. MCA education committee members should check in at 8 a.m. on August 7, 2010, in the lobby of the center. Important Notes

• Bring all of your working equipment, including towels, water bottle, comb, brush, clippers, shears, razor, thinning shears, foil, color bottle, mock coloring, formal styling equipment (pins, bands, hairnets, etc.), and a pen and notepad for taking notes. Also, bring a mannequin and holder, or, if you prefer, purchase a mannequin for $35 and a holder for $2.50 at the seminar.
  
  
• Classes begin early. A lunch period is scheduled for Sunday. Lunch is not provided, but several eating establishments are located nearby. Periodic breaks also are scheduled for each day. Certificates will be awarded on Monday, August 9, during the closing session. To receive a certificate, you must attend all classes and be present when certificates are distributed. The Mississippi State Board of Cosmetology will be on-site to register students for masters, instructors and Methods of Teaching hours.
  
  
• The classroom may be cold. Please dress appropriately.
