Online Sport Security Management Certificate
According to the United States Department of Homeland Security, stadiums and sporting arenas are targets of major security threats. Each year, billions of people gather at sporting events around the country. Get formal training in sports security management and improve the safety of fans.

The training was an eye-opening experience. We are now able to look for things we would have never seen as threats before.
-Tommy Verdell, Jr., director of facilities management at Mississippi Valley State.

The first of its kind in the country, The Sport Security Management certificate program is a comprehensive training program that provides effective management, planning, prevention, response and recovery standards and procedures in sports security. The certificate program will address the nature and scope of sport security issues involved in securing the homeland from domestic and international threats to sports events. Motives, methods, and impact of terrorism activity, natural disasters, and crowd management issues in sport will be discussed. This program also includes an examination of the basic legislation and operations of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and its role in protecting the United States by detecting, deterring, preventing, and responding to potential threats. An overview of Terrorism, Homeland Security, and risk assessment methodologies applicable to sport venues will be presented. Students will learn how to identify vulnerabilities, analyze and mitigate risk, and harden sport facilities through countermeasure proposals.
