Excellence Service Award

    The “Excellence in University Service Award,” is given to a faculty member who has excelled in (non-administrative) service to the university community.

Excellence Teaching Award

    The “Excellence in University Teaching Award” recognizes a faculty member with a record of exceptional teaching

Grand Marshal Award - Distinguished Professor Award

    This award recognizes a senior faculty member who has excelled in teaching, research, and service. The award recipient will be recognized and serve as Grand Marshal - Distinguished Professor for commencement ceremonies for one calendar year which includes May and December commencements.

Aubrey Keith Lucas and Ella Ginn Lucas Endowment Award

    At the start of each academic year, the Office of the Provost solicits proposals for the Aubrey Keith Lucas and Ella Ginn Lucas Endowment for Faculty Excellence Awards. We are now accepting proposals for the 2009-10 academic year. Requests for support may range from $25 to $5000. As a reminder, recipients for the 2008-09 academic year are not eligible.

HEADWAE Award

    Each year the Mississippi Legislature sponsors the HEADWAE (Higher Education Appreciation Day - Working for Academic Excellence) in Jackson, MS. Activities for HEADWAE are coordinated by the Mississippi Association of Colleges and supported by the corporate community. An outstanding faculty member and an outstanding student from each participating member institution of the Mississippi Association of Colleges will be recognized during the HEADWAE events.

Summer Grants for the Improvement of Instruction

    Awarded to faculty who are committed to the ongoing development of new and innovative teaching techniques.

National Endowment for the Humanities

    Provides faculty with the opportunity to pursue research in the humanities that contributes to scholarly knowledge or to the public's understanding of the humanities. This award is offered through the Sponsored Programs Administration.

IHL Black History Month Educator of the Year

The IHL Black History Month Educator of the Year recognizes a faculty member or a staff member who has demonstrated positive advancement of diversity on campus and within the University community.

Summer Faculty Research Grants

    Available through the Office of the Vice President of Research and Economic Development, with funding by the Office of the Provost. Selection is made by the University Research Council's SFRG Committee.

Awarded to faculty for professional improvement and to assist faculty to achieve promotion in academic rank and enhance professional development and scholarly reputation.
