What is the Grand Marshal Award?
This award recognizes a senior faculty member who has excelled in teaching, research and service. The award recipient will be recognized and serve as Grand Marshal at ALL university commencement ceremonies for one calendar year (May/December; Hattiesburg/Gulf Coast). In addition to receiving this prestigious recognition, the recipient will receive a $1,000 honorarium.
Who is eligible?
Full-time faculty members who hold the rank of Full Professor and have a minimum of ten years experience at The University of Southern Mississippi are eligible. Individuals who have received the award twice are ineligible for future consideration.
What are the supporting documents for the application?
Faculty must submit by February 12, 2009, the following documents: a maximum five-page vita; a maximum of three pages summarizing accomplishments in teaching, research and service; and three letters of support. The University Grand Marshal Committee members will review the applications and submit their recommendations to the Provost by March 23, 2009.
