What is PRSSA?

The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is a nationwide pre-professional organization for students interested in public relations and related mass communication or journalism fields. In 1968 Betsy Plank, a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) founded the PRSSA society to help develop students into public relations professionals by teaching its members up-to-date public relations techniques.

The student society aims to foster the following:
• Understanding of current theories and procedures of the profession
• Appreciation of the highest ethical ideals and principles
• Awareness of an appropriate professional attitude
• Appreciation of Associate Membership in PRSA and eventually accredited membership
