To help parents and other caregivers to better understand and manage the challenging behaviors of young children, ages 1 – 5 years of age.
Trained facilitators will conduct an individualized assessment of your family’s needs and design a parenting program that builds on your family’s strengths (about 7 to ten one-hour weekly sessions). Day and evening appointment times are available. Call the Community Counseling and Assessment Clinic at 266-4601 to set up an initial appointment with the PYC staff. |

The Parenting Young Children Program
The PYC Program is a well-researched approach to assisting parents of young children manage their normal and challenging behavioral needs. The PYC Program is delivered to parents individually, or in very small groups, to allow facilitators to best understand each family’s unique situation.

Dr. Bonnie Nicholson, assistant professor of counseling psychology at The University of Southern Mississippi, will direct the Parenting Young Children Program. Graduate students will receive training and participate in all aspects of the clinic. Directions to the clinic: We are located on the second floor of the Owings-McQuagge building, Room 202 on The University of Southern Mississippi campus. You can drive through the front entrance (in front of the Administration Building) to the Information Booth to obtain a temporary visitor’s parking pass. The person working at the booth will be able to direct you to available parking. Please call 266-4601 for more detailed instructions.
Parents will be charged a very minimal fee for the parenting program and will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. |
