Professional Development Overview

REACH MS provides FREE professional development opportunities on several topics relating to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.  Participants must register for trainings and provide certain pre- and post-training data in order to participate.  More details are provided below:

Awareness TrainingThe ½ day training will allow participants to increase their knowledge and skills regarding the Critical Elements of SWPBIS and the necessary requirements to attend REACH MS's Two Day SWPBIS New Team Training.  Open to All
New Team School wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports This two day training provides the participant the opportunity to learn all of the necessary Critical Elements of SWPBIS in order to implement systems change regarding Tier 1 of the Response to Intervention initiative. It is highly recommended that a school-based team attend the training. The team should include, but is not limited to, school administrators, general education teachers, special education teachers, behavioral specialists, and family members.

Beyond School wide Data Based Decisions & Tier 2This two day training provides the participant the opportunity to learn how to collect and analyze data in order to make data-based decisions on a school-wide (Tier 1) and secondary (Tier 2 level). Participants will learn what school-based data to collect in order to implement evidence-based interventions and progress monitor the intervention to determine its effectiveness. The participant will also learn the Essential Elements of Mississippi’s Response to Intervention initiative regarding Tier 2 interventions, data collection and progress monitoring. It is highly recommended that a school-based team attend the training. The team should include, but is not limited to, school administrators, general education teachers, special education teachers, behavioral specialists, and family members. 
  • Complete Tier2 Training Readiness
  • Complete Commitment Form
  • School Evaluation Tool (SET) = (80%)
  • BoQ = (80%)
  • 80% of the staff report school – wide systems are in place for non – classroom systems & classroom systems
  • Consistent use of school–wide data for making decisions as evidenced by the monthly “Big 5” reports
  • System in place to collect classroom minor referrals
