S.M.O.P. (Southern Miss Outdoor Programs) is bringing tons of fun along with new locations for trips such as hiking, rafting, camping and survival clinics.

 

Trips

 

Hike to Desoto National Forest, September 6

Come enjoy an early morning adventure in Desoto National Forest, approximately 30 miles south of Hattiesburg. Participants will car pool to hiking site, then everyone will reconvene at the trailhead and head out on the natural trails of Desoto to see what the great outdoors of Southern Mississippi have to offer! A snack will be provided.

Trip Cost: $10 per person

 

Ocoee White Water Rafting & Camping, September 19-21

Join SMOP staff on a rafting extravaganza! The Ocoee River is one of the premier whitewater river runs in the nation with superb rapids. Participants will camp two nights at Adventures Unlimited in Ocoee, TN, along with a day of rafting with a riverside lunch. Spend the afternoon hiking around the lower portion of the Great Smokey Mountains, and then ending the night around a campfire. All gear, camping, food, and transportation costs included. Registration closes September 11.

Trip Cost: $ 100 per person

 

Zip Lining & Kayaking in Gulf Shores, October 16-18

Looking for something to do over fall break? Join SMOP on a once in a lifetime experience of zipping through the gusty breezes of the Gulf Shores! Enjoy over a mile of zip lines at the Gulf Adventure Center, located in Gulf State Park, AL. Then spend the afternoon relaxing on the water with a kayak and some friends. We will camp at Gulf State Park campgrounds both Thursday and Friday nights. All gear, camping, and food costs are included (transportation must be provided by participants). Registration closes October 9.

Trip Cost: $ 115 per person

 

Hike to Little Black Creek, November 1

Enjoy a relaxing fall morning with SMOP staff on a hike to Little Black Creek, Approximately 35 miles from Hattiesburg. Participants will car pool to hiking site, the reconvene at the trailhead. Participants will get to enjoy the fall beauty of a portion of the 16 mile trail, which follows alongside the creek. A snack will be provided.

Trip Cost: $10 per person

 

Horseback Riding, November 8

Love horses? Then this is the trip for you! Come enjoy the great outdoors and fall colors on a trusty steed. Participants will carpool to the horse farm, spend a day exploring the natural horse trails, and head back later that afternoon. Transportation

Trip Cost: $65 per person
