What is a fitness assessment?
A fitness assessment is a series of test that includes measurement of height, weight and body
fat. Additional test performed include cardiovascular, flexibility and musular strength. Once
your results are calcated, you will receive a detailed report that will be reviewed with you.

Session packages include initial consultation, exercise prescription and one-hour training sessions. It does not include a fitness assessment. A fitness assessment must be purchased and performed prior to any training sessions.
*Three to 12 session packages include post-training assessment of body measurement and weight two months after your final training sessions and must be scheduled with a trainer within one month after your last training session. |

Assessments and nutritional consults can be made by appointment. Interested members will need to call the FAC and leave a message with their name and number and we will return their call.

- Come for your initial consultation.
- Schedule a fitness assessment
- Get started with your PFI within one week of your fitness assessment.
Paying your fees
Once you have been cleared to participate in the PFI program, and an instructor has been assigned to you, you can pay your fees by cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, or Southern Miss charge at Recreational Sports Office at 601.266.5405.
Personal Fitness Instructors
Several personal fitness instructors are now available to help you improve on the return of your workouts and achieve peak performance with the benefit of one-on-one attention.
To ensure that you receive the best personal fitness instruction available, all Recreational Sports personal fitness instruction staff are evaluated for their competencies and are required to have earned a minimum of 12 hours of academic credit in exercise science or a health-related field. In addition, the staff must attend and pass an in-service PFI training course developed by the Division of Recreational Sports. All PFI staff must hold certifications in CPR and First Aid. Additional credentials the staff may hold include national certifications from American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association, American Council on Exercise, or Aerobic Fitness Association of America.
