The Gateway at Southern Miss is managed by the department of Recreational Sports through a unique partnership between the Pearl and Leaf Rivers Rails to Trails Recreational District and the University of Southern Mississippi. The District is made up of three counties and four municipalities whose representatives serve on the board of directors. The board meets monthly and their meetings are open to the public.
The Gateway is located at 2895 W 4th Street, under the Southern Miss water tower, and is the official welcome center of the Longleaf Trace. The Gateway offers services such as classroom and meeting space rentals and bicycle rentals to the University and surrounding areas.

Bicycle Storage/Valet Service
Valet service - this service will include the storing of privately owned bicycles at the Gateway at Southern Miss.
Monthly fees - a storage fee will be charged to patrons monthly. This fee will be due by the fifth day of each month.
$12.50 - monthly storage fee
$10 - discount price for Friends of the Longleaf Trace
