Summer Graduates
The University of Southern Mississippi holds Commencement Ceremonies in the fall and spring semesters. If you plan to graduate in a summer term, you will have the option to participate in the Fall Commencement Ceremony.
However, undergraduate students who plan to graduate in a summer term will be permitted to participate in the preceding spring semester commencement ceremony if:
* all requirements will be met upon the completion of an internship/practicum during the summer term (limited to 10 hours). Note: student will be required to complete the petition to walk and provide documentation of the internship/practicum (i.e. letter from employer offering the internship/practicum). The petition can be obtained from your college’s Dean’s Office ACA representative.
A summer graduate approved to walk in the spring commencement ceremony should be aware that their name will not appear in the spring commencement program. Summer graduate names will appear in the fall commencement program. Summer graduates not attending the fall ceremony can contact the Registrar’s Office following the fall commencement ceremony and request a copy of the commencement program.
Remember that regardless of whether you choose to participate in a commencement ceremony, you must complete an application to graduate which is available at: www.usm.edu/registrar/graduation
Be sure to note Graduation Deadlines.
