Rowena Elliott, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, Department of Advanced Practice

My recent scholarly endeavors have a focus on increasing awareness of and prevention of chronic kidney disease in the older adult. I completed a pilot study with Foster Grandparents to assess their current education level of chronic kidney disease. An additional study was conducted with Foster Grandparents throughout the state of MS. I am a certified nephrology (kidney) nurse and certified in gerontological nursing. In addition, I will complete an adult-gerontological nurse practitioner program in Dec. 2013. I am in the process of preparing to write a grant to provide community education and screening for older adults in an effort to prevent chronic kidney disease. I have conducted oral presentation on the international, national, regional, state, and local levels on content related to the older adult and/or chronic kidney disease.
