Things To Check Into Before Resident Checks In
- Renters insurance
- Surge protectors and power strips with circuit breakers
- Extra-long sheets
The Residence Hall Association (RHA), made up of students who plan
activities for residence hall students, conducts a linen sale as a
fundraiser. Brochures are mailed directly from the linen company describing
the products for sale. However, you may also purchase linens at most
department stores. *Make sure you
ask for extra-long sheets ... our mattresses are 80 inches long!
Residents living in designated private rooms (Elam and Bond Halls)
will need full-size sheets.
- Dolly
University organizations will provide assistance on move-in day, but
parking close to buildings during check-in may be a challenge.
Policies To Know
- Consolidation
The process of students moving in with other students if they do not
want to pay for a private room (and have turned down a private room
contract). You may want to discuss consolidation with your student
if he or she ends up without a roommate during the first three weeks
of the semester.
- Private Room Fee
A private room fee will be issued to all students in a room without
a roommate, unless there is no other student with whom to consolidate.
- Room/Hall Assignments
Initial assignments to residence halls are done by date of completed
application (housing application, application fee and signed housing
contract). Returning student preference for assignment is done by
date of reapplication.
- Reassignment
Reassignment takes place around Feb.1 of the next year. The application
fee is due at this time. This process should be completed by June
1.
- Waiting List Assignments
Students will be assigned from the waiting list based on their cumulative
GPA, disciplinary record, classification, number of years in campus
housing and financial history.
- Housing Contract Cancellation
If you wish to cancel your student's housing contract, you must do
so by the July 1 deadline.
- Academic Year Rental Agreement
The housing contract is a legally binding agreement between the student
and the University for both the fall and spring terms. If a student
wishes to move off campus mid-year, they may break their housing contract
by paying half of what remains on the length of the contract. Fraternity
housing is not exempt from this agreement.
