Dr. David Lee Makes Headlines 

Dr. David Lee's research on school boards made the headlines on the front page of Hattiesburg American on March 17, 2014 and in the Clarion Ledger on March 16, 2014. New Scholarship Created to Honor Counselor

The News-Commercial newspaper wrote an article about a new university scholarship dedicated to a deserving school counselor. The University of Southern Mississippi established the Gwen Hitt School Counseling Scholarship in honor of Gwen Keys Hitt. Hitt recieved her Master's degree in counseling from the university and at a recent event, the department presented this scholarship to recognize Hitt's service to the children, families and fellow educators of Mississippi and to the field of school counseling. The scholarship is available to any Mississippi student going to school to earn his or her Master's degree in School Counseling at USM.

Department Receives Accredidation Recognition

WHLT22 recently covered the Department of Educational Leadership and School Counseling's receipt of continued National Recognition for the Educational Administration program through the Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC). The Professional Education Unit at The University of Southern Mississippi is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
