Ronald Styron, EdD, is Professor and Director of The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Instructional Leadership Center. Dr. Styron has over 25 years of K-12 teaching and school administration and 9 years of college teaching and administration experience.  While he served as principal, Mandeville High School was designated a 2001-2002 Academic School of Excellence, Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education.

He has received numerous awards including Principal of the Year and Louisiana Educator of Distinction. He has administered several grant-funded projects throughout his career and served as project contact, co-director, and an instructor for numerous IHL Summer Institutes. As of 2011, Dr. Styron has received $2,809,391 in grant awards for these projects.

Dr. Styron has published in numerous refereed journals including the Journal of College Teaching and Learning, the Journal of Education, Informatics, and Cybernetics, Academic Leadership, the International Journal of Educational Policy & Leadership, Research in Higher Education, The Journal of Educational Technology Development and Exchange, The Journal of Education for Students Placed at Risk, the Journal of Diversity Management, Research in Middle Level Education, the Journal of School Public Relations, the College Student Journal, the Journal of Caribbean Studies, The Community College Enterprise, the  Journal of Research for Educational Leaders, The Researcher, Educational Leadership, The Journal of Scholarship and Practice, Catalyst for Change, the American School Board Journal, T.H.E. Journal: Technological Horizons in Education, and  The Journal of At-Risk Issues.

Most recently Dr. Styron received the Education and Information Systems, Technologies and Applications, and the Clute Institute for Academic Research Best Paper Awards.

 

Areas of Interest:

Dr. Styron’s primary research interests are focused on P-12 education and include leadership, principal preparation, educational applications of technology, and student achievement relative to school improvement initiatives.
