Foundation Scholarships

Lawrence C. Albers Film Scholarship [Application] 
This scholarship is given to a senior whose emphasis is film. They must have a 3.0 G.P.A. in RTF courses and an overall G.P.A. of 2.5.


Andrew C. Austin Memorial Scholarship [Application]
This is annual scholarship is given to a junior or senior majoring in media production (formerly know as television production) who has maintained a G.P.A. of 2.5 or better.


Frank Buckley Scholarship Endowment [Application]

This scholarship was set up to provide aid to capable and deserving tudents majoring in the School of Mass Communication and Journalism.


Staci Cochran Davis Memorial Scholarship [Application]
This scholarship provides monetary support to a junior majoring in advertising who maintains a minimum 3.0 G.P.A. 


Robert C. Cook Memorial Scholarship [Application]
This scholarship goes to a student majoring in Journalism (News Editorial, Photojournalism, or Public Relations) with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.5 in the major, and a 3.0 overall G.P.A. Students need to apply for this scholarship by completing the departmental application and the 2013-2014 FAFSA either online or through Financial Aid.


Jeff Cropco Memorial Scholarship 
Provides scholarship support to students involved with The Student Printz at The University of Southern Mississippi. The student must be the current Sports Editor of The Printz, however, it is not necessary that he/she have a declared majored in the School of Mass Communication and Journalism. Michael Fatherree Memorial Scholarship [Application]
Provides a scholarship to a deserving junior or senior journalism student within the public relations emaphasis area. The minimum overall G.P.A. required is 3.0.


Tom Fredian Memorial Scholarship

Provides aid to a student majoring in public relations with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. The recipient must be a resident of Harrison or Hancock counties in Mississippi.


Bill Hunsberger Scholarship
(not available at this time)
This scholarship is sponsored by the Community Foundation of Greater Jackson, and is rotated annually between a journalism major at the University of Southern Mississippi, a journalism major at the University of Mississippi and a political science major at Mississippi State University who has media involvement. The recipient must be a full-time student entering their junior or senior year of undergraduate study in the selected field at the specific school for that year, and there is no required GPA but the applicant should be a well-rounded, solid scholar. This is a one time, non-renewable award.


Melanie and Bill Hunsberger Scholarship [Application]
This scholarship is given to a worthy and qualified student majoring in either public relations, news editorial or photojournalism.


W.E. "Bud" Kirkpatrick Endowment [Application]

This scholarship is awarded to a student of junior or senior status majoring in public relations.


Leonard Lowrey Memorial Scholarship [Application]

This scholarship provides direct aid to students who demonstrate a need financially, have an interest in journalism, and show high potential in the fields of journalism. Students need to apply for this scholarship by completing both the departmental application as well as their 2013-2014 FAFSA either online or through Financial Aid.


Milly East Martin Memorial Scholarship [Application]
This annual scholarship goes to a student majoring in the area of public relations.


Tarsha McLaurin Annual Scholarship [Application]
This scholarship will go to a minority student majoring in journalism (broadcast, news-ed, photo, advertising or public relations). The student should be either an upcoming junior or senior and have a G.P.A. of 2.5 or better.


Mississippi Media Professionals Scholarship Endowment [Application]
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide a scholarship to a student majoring in journalism.


Damian E. Morgan Scholarship in Photography [Application]
This is to provide scholarship support to a junior, senior, or graduate student studying photography. Applicants must provide a mini-portfolio of 5 prints to the School of Mass Communication and Journalism upon applying.


Marvin & Betty Reuben Scholarship [Application]The purpose of this scholarship is to provide aid to an outstanding student majoring in broadcast journalism or broadcast production in the School of Mass Communication and Journalism. Upon being selected for this scholarship, the student will be designated as the Marvin Reuben Hub City Award Winner.


Barbara Rene Shoemake Public Relations Scholarship Endowment [Application]
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide monetary support to an undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Public Relations with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference shall be given to members of the Public Relations Student Society of America.


W. C. Shoemaker Journalism Scholarship [Application]
This scholarship goes to an in-state student (junior or senior) that is majoring in journalism with a news editorial emphasis.
