Heart Walk

Each fall, the Heart Walk is an event the entire University of Southern Mississippi faculty, staff, and students support.  The College of Science and Technology participates by putting together a Heart Walk Team.

Embracing Healthy Competition

Each college at Southern Miss competes to raise funds to fight heart disease and stroke, America’s number one and number four killers.

The University has an overall competition between the deans.  The dean who raises the least amount has to kiss Oliver, the piggy bank.

The goal of the CoST team was to raise $1,000.  As you can see below, our campaign to "SAVE OLIVER" was successful. That is, Dean Whitehead did not have to kiss the piggy bank.

The annual Heart Walk takes place in the fall on the Hattiesburg campus at Pride Field.

The non-competitive, three-mile walk includes teams of employees from local companies, along with friends and family members of all ages.

The College of Science and Technology 2012 team was lead by Tara Burcham, CoST Public Relations Coordinator.
