Southern Miss Staff Council Student Scholarship Winner

Angela Denise Wuest

Ms. Wuest is a nursing student from Gulfport, MS.

Excerpts: "With the spotlight being the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina it is sometimes hard to expound on the good that one has in their life. But then you think, despite all that we have endured here on the coast we can still raise our head high and boast on being a student at Southern Miss. If it weren't for Southern Miss some of us would have had a far more stressful experience. I felt it was the first sign of structure AI had immediately following the storm, after I heard USM was reopening in Gulfport. It was this giant ray of hope."

"My experience of attending the University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park Campus will be handed down to my two daughters and they too can see how rising with the sun, walking with the beach breezes and singing with the Golden Eagles was an experience that forever changed my life in a very trying time in our history. And despite it all it has been the most rewarding experience that anyone could have ever hoped for."
