Employment for Students
Q. How do I find an on-campus job?
A. All positions are posted on Eagle Employment, our online career center. Log in or create an account now.
Q. What is Work-Study?
A. Most
student jobs on campus are a form of financial aid known as Work-Study. To be eligible
for this federal program, you and your family must complete the required paperwork with our Financial Aid Office and they will notify you if you are eligible for the Work-Study program.
Q. Do I have to have Work-Study to work on campus?
A. No, if you do not qualify for Federal Work-Study you can apply for hourly wage positions.
Q. How many hours a week can I work?
A. You can work up to 20 hours a week.
Q. Do
I have to be a full-time student to work on campus?
A. Yes.
During the fall and spring semesters, undergraduates must be enrolled
at least 12 class hours and graduate students must be enrolled in at least 9 hours. There are exceptions to this class hour requirement during the summer semester so, please refer to our summer policies for student workers .
Q. Do
I have to pay taxes on my earnings?
A. Your
tax status will be determined based on your W-4 and state tax forms.
On-campus student workers are exempt from Social Security contributions. Before
you begin working state and federal tax forms must be completed, along with
an Employment Eligibility Verification (I-9) form. (Forms are available
online, in Student Employment, and the hiring department.)
Q. How
do I get paid?
A. As
an hourly employee, you will be required to complete a weekly time sheet and you will receive a paycheck
on alternate Fridays. Direct deposit is required for all new employees and paychecks and/or pay stubs are sent to your employing department.
Q. Do
I have to work during University breaks?
A. It is not required, unless stated in the job description, but if you are in the area during a break some departments may give you the option to work.
