Jazmyne Elizabeth Butler, President
Jazmyne Butler is a junior broadcast journalism major from Vicksburg and is the daughter of Elizabeth Grissom. Jazmyne has served in many capacities on campus, including being a member of the Golden Eagle Welcome Week Executive Team, Southern Style 2011 and Student Government Association. She is a member of the Honors College, is a Leadership Scholar, and has maintained Dean’s List or President’s List academic status throughout her college career. Jazmyne is a recruiter for the University through Eagle Connection and a member of the Gamma Rho Chi recruitment team for the College Pan-Hellenic Council. She was named Most Outstanding Sophomore at the 2011 AASO Student Achievement Awards and is an active member of Increasing Minority Access to Graduate Education. Jazmyne represented Southern Miss as a delegate to the National Conference on Ethics in America at West Point Military Academy and is currently serving as president of the Mu Nu Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
Allie Rebecca Solomon, Vice President
Allie Solomon is a junior Spanish major with geography minor from Pittsburgh, Pa. She is a Presidential Scholar and a member of the Honors College. During her freshman year, she was involved in Freshman Associates, receiving the award of Most Outstanding Freshman Associate. She also served as co-captain for the ultimate frisbee club team, was a member of Southern Miss’ chapter for Habitat for Humanity and was awarded Outstanding Freshman Female in 2010. She became a member of Lambda Sigma Honor Society, where she served as a team leader for the Big Event 2011, as well as becoming a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society, Southern Miss’ chapter of SADD , the Honors College Ambassadors, and the senate representing the Honors College. While in the senate, Allie co-drafted the legislation for the Smoking Initiative, which became an active campus policy in the fall of 2011, and served on the Constitutional Re-write Committee. Upon graduation in spring of 2013, Allie is interested in pursuing military intelligence or engineering. Allie is the daughter of Dr. Neil Solomon and Cindy Leone.
Donald Holmes II, Attorney General
Don Holmes is the son of the late Linda Faye Roberts-Holmes and Donald Holmes Sr., and was raised by his aunt, Catherine Hines. Currently, Donald is majoring in English with a minor in black studies. Donald is involved on and off campus in many organizations and has served the student body with passion as a Student Government Association senator, representing the College of Arts and Letters during his sophomore year. During his freshmen year, Donald was the secretary of the Residence Life Judicial Board. Currently, Donald is the vice president of the World Religions Club: Mystic Lounge, an active member of Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society, a member of the Honors College, and a Resident Assistant in Roberts Residence Hall. Donald’s off-campus involvement includes an active membership in the Mississippi Army National Guard; in 2009-10, Donald was deployed with the NationalGuard to Mosul, Iraq. In January 2012, Donald was chosen as the executive vice president of collegiate affairs of the Southern Association of Human Equality, a nonprofit organization based in Atlanta, Ga.
Jordan Elizabeth West, Election Commissioner
Jordan West is the daughter of James and Elizabeth West from Navarre, Fla. She is a psychology major and is an active member in several student organizations on campus. Jordan served as Panhellenic assistant and on the recruitment team for Kappa Delta Sorority. Her freshman year, Jordan was a member of Freshman Associates and served on the Elections Commission Committee for the Student Government Association, where she received the honor of Most Outstanding Election Commission Member of the Year. Jordan is active in the Air Force ROTC as a cadet recruiting officer and the general military contact liaison and is a member of the Student Eagle Club and The Legacy.
Davontae Washington, Treasurer
Davontae Washington is a senior business management major from Hattiesburg. He is the son of Pearline Martin. A Leadership Scholar, he was named the Most Outstanding Freshman Male and is the founder of the campus chapter of Students Against Destructive Decision (SADD). A former Freshman Associate and special projects coordinator for the Student Government Association Executive Cabinet, he is currently in the process of transitioning into his second term as the SGA treasurer. He is the keeper of records for the Kappa Iota chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Davontae served on the Golden Eagle Welcome Week Crew in 2010 and 2011, and is currently a member of Southern Style 2012.
